Painting

This is my painting of my sea from New Brighton beach. When we went on the walk, we took pictures of places we could paint. I decided to paint the view of the ocean, because it looked nice and I found it quite interesting. We had to sketch it before we painted. We had to go soft so we couldn't see the pencil outline. It was hard because we had to get the right size and shape. When  started painting I started with painting the sky, Then I painted the sea after that. I decided to do the hills green but I made it a bit darker. I made my sea darker and added a bit lighter.  I made my clouds out of white and grey. I decided to made my pier black. And the round cicrles are yellow because I tried to make them stand out so not everything is not full of blue, green and  black. I added red because I would of added to much blue. I added seagulls in to add decoration and I made my seagulls black till look better with the blue. And it turned out pretty good.

Ecosystems

Ecosystems

The past few days we have been learning about ecosystems.
About the three different places in the bottle.
The three different ones are producer, consumers and decomposers.
A producer is like something that makes stuff like trees and plants.
A consumer is like animals that eat stuff.
Decomposer is something that breaks down like leaves and the worms eat it. 
So the bottom part of the bottle is the aquatic.
So you put stones at the bottom and fill the water half way.
Equipment is water, terrestrial/soil and decomposition/leaves.
Then in the middle layer you put stones and you get leaves that’s on the ground.
An put them on top of the stones. The top one is where the plants grow.
So what you do is you put soil in and then put some seeds (not much seeds)
In the middle part you put some worms if you have worm thats awesome.
But if you don’t just go looking for some worms you don’t need big or small
just some worms but not much. My group is Jessica and Bella rose.
Bella rose favorite part was looking for worms. We had to dig with a glove on.
We had to keep on digging and digging.
But we got some worms like 5 or 6 we don’t really know.
There was one long worm with a red head it was gross. 
Our teacher is Talei for our inquiry. Ecosystems are really fun.  

Kitchen Science.

We did 9 sessions of kitchen science. The activities that we did was dancing raisins, homemade lemonade, magic milk, plastic milk, why does water change colour and elephant toothpaste. My favourite activity was magic milk because the milk looked so pretty after and it was a lot of fun. How we made magic milk  that we put milk over the plastic plate then we added 3 different colours we added were blue, yellow and red. And after you had to put a cotton bud in dishwashing liquid. You put in the middle and hold it there. It looked so pretty. Our teacher was Kathy. We learnt solid,liquid and gas. I found it interesting and also a lot of fun! I think if you tried this I think you would have a lot of fun like what I had it was soooo fun. I wish we didn’t have to change our activity.

The man and the mouse.

Tom and Jerry. 

Tom the old flat head with grey hair and long pants. quietly hid behind the soft chair.
Jerry the mouse sniffed out the food. When Tom kept watching side to side. Jerry
sprinted across the floor to the kitchen. Tom takes a little peek then goes back down
Jerry takes a little sniff and climbs up the soft and warm tea towel. Tom takes another
peek to see where Jerry the mouse was. But Jerry had a little look around. And Tom the
old man hid behind the soft comfy chair. Jerry quietly ran past the gumball jar and over the
spoon to the box with cheese in it the trap that Tom set up.  Jerry slowly walks to the box
and has a little sniff. Jerry runs around the box looking around it. Then he runs in and the
box falls on poor Jerry. The old man Tom quickly got out behind the chair and had a little
boogie and celebrated he was so happy. Tom looks out the window and Jerry in the box
tries to run but he can't see. Tom looks around the room and he sees newspaper sitting
on the table. Tom keeps trying to reach the newspaper and he keeps trying and trying
and he finally got the newspaper. He puts the newspaper underneath the box and
walks to the window and he hears a loud cat so he keeps the mouse  inside. Tom
turns all the lights off but one he gets this knife thing that you cut with pork or any
type of meat. Then he puts holes in the box so the mouse can breath. He grabs some
water and puts it in a little cap then he slides the water under the box. He grabs some
bread and puts it through the hole. Then Jerry throws the little bit up the hole again. And
Tom lifts the box up and he sees that the brown furry mouse standing up. Jerry turns
around with his arms crossed. The old skinny man with long legs gives the mouse the
bread but Jerry is too scared. So the old man pretends he eats the bread and the mouse gets
sad.
But he does a little magic trick and the bread crumb appears.  And he moves the
bread crumb towards the mouse. But the mouse is a bit shy at first but he came
around and took the bread crumb. The old man Tom tired to pat the mouse, but
Jerry ran away. Now Tom is sad. When Tom fell asleep on the couch ( well fake sleeping)
their was bread crumbs on his pjs and Jerry the mouse took some crumbs and went away
Tom was happy He smiled and went back to sleep.

Tuatara

Tuatara 

 Tuataraś have grey scales around them, spikes on their backs,

long claws,

extra holes on their back and mostly their eye colour is brownie type yellow.

Tuataraś live on coastal areas of New Zealand, because of the new predators

invading their home.

Tuataraś wait for their food and when the food walks by they jump out and

grab the

food in itś jaw and it would most likely to escape from the jaw.

Tuataraś have been around for 225,000000 years, their closest relatives died out

about when the dinosaurs died out.

Male tuataraś use their spikes to get a girlfriend. Tuataraś where born with a third

eye on the top of its head but it got covered up by the scales.

Tuataraś eat crickets, wettaś, spiders or another baby tuatara. 

The maori word for tuatara is spines down their back.

Tuataraś are different from lizards.

Kids Teach

Kids teach is when you learn like art and sports from classmates and you get to have

fun instead of learning your normal school work.

 I did netball for the whole time we were doing it with Anika and Ava.

What went well was that a lot of the time people were good, and had a

lot of fun.

I enjoyed when we got to do the activities and have fun.

Changes to make kids teach even better is that we could have more activities

and longer time doing it cause the first time we didn't have much time to do the activity.

We should do this again because it was a lot of fun and we got to learn new skills that

other people already knew and could teach us.

Camp Reflection!

Camp Reflection!

We went to Waipara Adventure Centre! On Wednesday 20th March! 2019!

My favourite activity was the Giant swing because it was really fun and my first time.

I really challenged myself. When I went up to level 3 on the giant swing for the first time.   I made a connection with people who I didn’t really talk to. My favourite meal was the Pie we had for lunch it was so yummy!! When I got home I was so TIRED!!! And I didn’t unpack till the next day cause I was so TIRED!!! Camp was so fun! By Addison
